Our free community pantry is open
Wednesday through Sunday from 10am-5pm.
No documentation is required and no questions are asked - come by anytime during cafe business hours to pick out groceries from our free community fridge and pantry! The pantry area in the cafe's front room is staffed by a friendly volunteer host who can bag up groceries and answer any questions you might have.
The pantry is stocked entirely by the community, and has shared over 4,000 pounds of free groceries since opening in April 2021. We gladly accept donations at the cafe during all business hours. Donations to the fridge and pantry must be unopened, unexpired, and shelf stable. We are always in need of the following pantry staples:
Ready to eat food (nut butter and jelly, bread, precooked shelf-stable rice, beans, etc.)
Ramen noodles (or anything cooked with just hot water!),
Canned food (Fruit, vegetables, soup, spaghetti, etc. - "pop tops" are preferred to ones requiring a can opener)
Juice boxes (shelf-stable only!)
Boxed milk (shelf-stable only!)
Hot cocoa packets
Baby food (squeezable pouches are preferred to glass jars) and diapers (all sizes)
Snacks (chips, crackers, cookies, and Pop-Tarts are popular)
Dog and cat food
Band-Aids / first aid supplies
Hygiene supplies (esp. sanitary wipes and period products)
Re-usable bags (in good condition and with handles, please!)
We keep a running list of requested items at the pantry, and update it weekly to reflect what is most needed. If you're able to contribute any of these items to the fridge and pantry, we'll gladly distribute them to the people who need them.
Visiting the pantry? Find us at 796 Monroe St. in Eugene, Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 5pm. Our community pantry is located right inside the front door, under the "Acorn Community Cafe" sign. Please note that you'll be required to wear a mask to enter the cafe - we have free masks available if you need one.
